Communism

We hear that communism is a system that supports equality for all and that everyone has the same opportunities under this system.

Yet with the rise of communism around the globe, we haven’t seen that freedom that they aspire too, in fact in nearly all cases when anyone questions the authorities they are or have been taken away and put into gulags or similar institutions.

It is a bit like that old saying: “under communism we are all equal but some are more equal than others.”

Those who proclaim to be leaders of communist countries never seem to want to let go of their positions, as they want to retain all the privileges that go with their positions with the state paying for their life style, while the rest of the population live in a state of inequality and never achieve the lifestyles of these leaders.

They don’t seem to have any real concerns about the lives of their populations and often seem to actually ignore any risk to the populations in their decision making. We only have to look back at the histories of leaders such as Josef Stalin; Mao Tse Tong; Kim Jong IL; etc. When we study their careers we clearly see that they controlled their populations by a climate of fear and over the period of their respective leadership, between them they conspired to kill millions of their population to try to protect their positions as leader.

Some examples of this indifference to the plight of their populations are:

Russia which was a communist state that moved towards capitalism, but under their current President Putin it seems that they have reverted to a dedicated communist state. Putin was elected leader of the state and since then he has assumed absolute control of Russia and removed the right of his people to challenge his rule with free democratic elections.

The People’s Republic of China; where the President Xi Jinping is in a power play within his country and seems to want to be portrayed as powerful leader through setting his country on the road to taking control over Taiwan. The ruling classes in China live a very privileged lifestyle compared to the average citizen. What is China scared of about Taiwan, is it the freedoms that the people of Taiwan have? Taiwan is an independent nation with a democratic system of government yet China has for many years claimed that Taiwan is Chinese territory and has made many attempts to reclaim it as part of their own nation.

North Korea where they have their esteemed Leader Kim Jong-un, who keeps the majority of his people in a state of poverty while the ruling elite have more but Kim Jong-un himself has all the luxuries of the west. What’s Kim Jong-un so scared of that he must keep his people oppressed? Is it that his people will turn on his dictatorship style and want the freedom to choose their own life’s journey?

One must wonder about these leaders that have all followed past leaders of their communist states to control the people, yet in reality they have mostly lived a life of privilege whilst their populations live in very reduced circumstances and in many cases at or below the poverty level.

Why, are these leaders so fixated in holding onto power, is it maybe, due more to the fact that they wish to retain their privileged lifestyle than to actually trying to improve the lives of their own populations? Are they scared that democracy is a place where people can choose and they might choose a different direction than that which they currently follow under their communist systems and they will then lose the power and privilege that goes with their leader’s position?

We see that Russia has invaded Ukraine under the pretence of supporting democratic rights of some dissidents to break away from the central government of Ukraine. But is this really the true reason why Russia has declared war on Ukraine? Or does it have more to do with the fact that the people of Ukraine understand that they now have choices that they didn’t have as part of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics?

Why would Russia invade Ukraine? The source of the tensions comes down to Ukraine’s separation from the Soviet Union and ties with the West. Ukraine has ambitions to join NATO, which President Putin sees as a direct threat to Russia’s power in the East. Ukraine was part of the Russian empire for centuries, and was also part of the USSR until Ukraine officially declared independence amid the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.

Or maybe Russia wants to seize control of Ukraine so as to gain unfettered access to their natural resources:-

Ukraine ranks:

1st in Europe in proven recoverable reserves of uranium ores.
2nd place in Europe and 10th place in the world in terms of titanium ore reserves.
2nd place in the world in terms of explored reserves of manganese ores (2.3 billion tons, or 12% of the world’s reserves).
2nd largest iron ore reserves in the world (30 billion tons).
2nd place in Europe in terms of mercury ore reserves.
3rd place in Europe (13th place in the world) in shale gas reserves (22 trillion cubic meters).
4th in the world by the total value of natural resources.
7th place in the world in coal reserves (33.9 billion tons).

Ukraine is an important agricultural country:

1st in Europe in terms of arable land area;
3rd place in the world by the area of black soil (25% of world’s volume);
1st place in the world in exports of sunflower and sunflower oil;
2nd place in the world in barley production and 4th place in barley exports;
3rd largest producer and 4th largest exporter of corn in the world;
4th largest producer of potatoes in the world;
5th largest rye producer in the world;
5th place in the world in bee production (75,000 tons);
8th place in the world in wheat exports;
9th place in the world in the production of chicken eggs;
16th place in the world in cheese exports.

Ukraine can meet the food needs of 600 million people.
Ukraine is an important industrialised country:

1st in Europe in ammonia production;
Europe’s 2nd’s and the world’s 4th largest natural gas pipeline system;
3rd largest in Europe and 8th largest in the world in terms of installed capacity of nuclear power plants;
3rd place in Europe and 11th in the world in terms of rail network length (21,700 km);
3rd place in the world (after the U.S. and France) in production of locators and locating equipment;
3rd largest iron exporter in the world
4th largest exporter of turbines for nuclear power plants in the world;
4th world’s largest manufacturer of rocket launchers;
4th place in the world in clay exports
4th place in the world in titanium exports
8th place in the world in exports of ores and concentrates;
9th place in the world in exports of defence industry products;
10th largest steel producer in the world (32.4 million tons).

Saul Alinsky who died in 1972 wrote a book about 50 years ago titled Rules for Radicals. This book detailed how to achieve a socialist state and set out eight levels of control that must be obtained before you can create a socialist state.

  1. Healthcare – Control healthcare and you control the people.
  2. Poverty – Increase the poverty level as high as possible; poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing everything for them to live.
  3. Debt – Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and that will produce more poverty.
  4. Gun Control – Remove the ability of people to defend themselves from the government. That way you are able to create a police state.
  5. Welfare – Take control of every aspect of the population’s life (Food, Housing and Income).
  6. Education – Take control of what people read and listen to – take control of what children learn in school.
  7. Religion – Remove the belief in god from Government and schools.
  8. Class Warfare – Divide the people into wealthy and poor. This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to tax the wealthy to support the poor.

Alinsky was merely simplifying Vladimir Lennin’s original scheme for world conquest by communism under Russian rule. Josef Stalin described his converts to communism as “Useful Idiots”.

The Useful Idiots have destroyed every nation in which they have seized power and control.

It is difficult to free fools from the chains that they revere.

There are many people who believe in Communism and that it provides a better way of life for all.

So why aren’t we seeing these people who believe that communism/dictatorships are good coming out in support of something must people find inherently wrong?

Here in New Zealand we have a number of Government MP’s who have proudly voiced their belief in socialism but we don’t see or hear them jumping up now, in the light of this declaration of war, to support the Socialist regimes around the world such as Russia. Maybe they have lost some of the strength of their convictions after seeing what can happen in a socialist dictatorship such as Russia.
